The short version
Puka Paint is a colouring and drawing app for children aged 3 to 8. We do not collect personal information. Full stop. Drawings, settings and the parent PIN stay on your device, unless a grown-up saves a picture to Photos (see "Save to Photos" below). There are no accounts, no ads and no analytics or tracking tools in the app.
What stays on your device
These are saved only on your phone or tablet. We never receive them:
- Your child's drawings and coloured pages
- Settings (music, sound effects, language, and whether the how-to guide was shown)
- The parent PIN record. This is a salted hash (a scrambled code), not the PIN itself, and it stays on the device
- Your colouring progress, such as which pages you have coloured
- A small note of whether Premium is active and which plan. It holds no receipts or payment details
If you uninstall the app, this data is removed from the device.
Phone backups. Android Auto Backup and iCloud device backup can include your child's drawings, colouring progress, settings (music, sound effects, language, and whether the how-to guide was shown) and the parent PIN record (the salted hash, not the PIN) in your family's own Google or Apple backup, if backup is switched on in your phone settings. On Android, the Premium status note and the error log are excluded from backup; on iPhone and iPad, iCloud backup may also include them. That is the phone platform's backup, held in your own account. It is not ours, and we cannot see or access it.
No network connections of our own
In this version, the app makes no network connections of its own. The fonts, colouring pages and sounds are all built into the app, so it works offline. We run no server for the app.
To sell Premium (subscriptions and the one-time lifetime purchase), the app must include Google Play's billing component. It is provided by Google and works under Google's privacy policy, not ours. The app does not have permission to use the internet, so neither the app nor that component can send anything from the app; purchases are completed by the Google Play Store app itself.
Google Play's purchase system may keep a small technical log on the device about the purchase service. Puka Paint cannot send it anywhere, because the app has no internet access.
What we do not do
- We do not ask you or your child to create an account or sign in.
- We do not show ads, and the app contains no advertising tools.
- We do not use analytics, attribution or tracking tools that send information about you or your device to anyone.
- We do not read or send the advertising ID or other device identifiers.
- We do not use location, contacts, camera, microphone or phone-state access.
- We do not let children chat, share to social networks, or upload drawings.
- We do not sell or share data, because we do not have any.
Purchases
Premium is optional. It is available as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase that does not renew. Payments are handled entirely by Google Play (Android) or Apple (iPhone and iPad). We never see or receive your card or payment details, name or email. The store simply tells the app whether Premium is active (a subscription, or the lifetime purchase tied to your store account) so the app can unlock Premium content. This check happens on the device, through Google Play or Apple. We run no server and never receive purchase receipts. The app keeps a small note on the device of whether Premium is active and which plan; it holds no receipts or payment details. The store's own privacy policy covers what it collects:
- Google Play: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Apple: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
All purchase buttons are behind the parent PIN so children cannot buy by accident.
Save to Photos
A grown-up can save a finished picture to the phone's Photos, behind the parent PIN. The app asks for no storage, photo or camera permission to do this.
- A picture leaves the app only to the place the grown-up saves it. We never receive it, and the app does not upload it anywhere.
- On Android 10 and newer, the picture is saved to the Pictures folder on the phone, in a folder called "Puka Paint".
- On Android 7 to 9, the grown-up chooses the location in the phone's own "save as" screen. That location can be a cloud service (for example, a cloud drive) if the grown-up picks one. In that case the picture is held by that provider under the provider's own privacy policy, not ours.
- Once a picture is in Photos or another folder, it is outside the app. Other apps on the phone, and the phone's own photo backup if it is on, may be able to see or copy it. Deleting the app does not delete pictures that were saved this way.
Fingerprint, Face ID and phone passcode (optional)
A parent can choose to pass the parent PIN check (for example to open Settings), or reset a forgotten PIN, with the phone's fingerprint, face unlock, Face ID or screen lock. This check is done by your phone's operating system. The app only gets a "yes, it was you" or "no" answer. We never see, receive or store your fingerprint, face data or phone passcode.
Error log
If something goes wrong, the app may write a short error note to a file on your device to help fix problems. It stays on the device. It is only shared if a parent copies it from Settings and chooses to send it to us. There is no email or send option in the app, so you can read it first. It is not meant to contain drawings or personal details.
Information the stores may give us
Google Play and the App Store give developers summary numbers such as downloads, ratings and crash counts. These are collected by the stores, not by the app, and we cannot tell who you are from them. If you write a review or email us, we see what you choose to send.
Children's privacy
Puka Paint is designed for children aged 3 to 8 and their parents. We built it so that it does not collect personal information from children at all. That is our way of following the spirit of children's privacy laws such as COPPA in the United States and similar rules elsewhere. The app is designed with families in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, the United States and other countries in mind. We do not make any claim of legal certification in any country.
- Nothing a child draws or taps leaves the device, unless a grown-up saves a picture to Photos.
- Parts of the app that matter to adults (purchases, settings, deleting drawings, links outside the app) are behind the parent PIN.
- Because we collect no personal information, there is nothing for a parent to review, correct or delete on our side. To remove everything, delete the app, or delete individual drawings in the gallery (after the parent PIN).
If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us at support@pukapaint.cloud and we will delete it.
Links outside the app
Any link that leaves the app (for example, store subscription settings) is behind the parent PIN.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and describe the change in the app's store listing or release notes. We will not start collecting personal information from children without telling parents first and getting any consent the law requires.
